Forestry

Through the development and application of genomics innovation, we are improving stewardship of the long-term health, resilience and sustainability of Alberta’s forests and forest sector.

Growing Alberta’s Forests of the Future

Our forests hold and create a lot of value from the biodiversity they support, to the carbon they sequester, to the wood products they provide and the jobs they create. We are applying powerful genomics tools and technologies to gain insights at the molecular level to improve forest management and best practices at the landscape level. New insights into the genetic traits our trees of tomorrow will need to survive drought, heat, pest outbreaks and disease are influencing planting decisions today. Genomics innovations are here to open opportunities in new markets for bio-products, enhance environmental performance and improve bottom-lines.

We are here to assist you in making connections and leveraging opportunities for funding and partnerships. Reach out to our team to get started.
