Glycomics is poised to be the major contributor to two of the fastest-growing industry sectors globally (biotechnology and pharma), building on the already transformative impacts of genomics and proteomics. GlycoNet Integrated Services (GIS) was launched with the vision of becoming the world’s leading glycomics service provider. GIS’ glycomics toolbox uniquely equips glycomics researchers, partners and end users from across Canada and abroad with the synthetic, analytical and high-throughput screening platforms needed to undertake transformative glycomics research and technology development.
With funding from Genome Canada’s Technology Development program, GIS will develop new glycomics capabilities to support its strategic plan and cement Canada’s global leadership position in glycomics innovation.
These include:
1. Integration of glycomics with other ‘omics’ to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.
2. Develop novel MS imaging tools for spatial visualization of glucans in clinical tissue samples.
3. Develop new services based on enzyme technology to enable One Health innovations in anti-microbial resistance and sustainable agrifood systems.
4. Develop new cell lines and mouse models to acquire new glycomics data sets relevant to human biology.
