Genome Alberta is pleased to share our 2021-2022 Annual Report
which outlines our impacts and successes during the past fiscal year. Driving significant provincial impact, Genome Alberta is a publicly funded, not-for-profit organization that initiates, funds, and manages genomics research programs and partnerships. Since inception, Genome Alberta has enabled over $550M of genomics research and innovation, helped secure $120M of federal research funds for Alberta-led projects, and supported thousands of jobs in Alberta.
This year saw the release of Genome Alberta’s boldest strategic plan yet. The plan, entitled “Genome Alberta Strategic Plan 2022-2025 — From Innovation to Impact
”, goes far beyond our traditional role of working in close partnership with our largest funding partner — Genome Canada — to develop world class research projects. Beyond our new Strategic Plan, this year Genome Alberta supported 49 research and innovation projects across sectors important to Albertans while advancing new partnerships and programs that will generate new innovation activities. Explore our Project Portfolio
and the ground-breaking genomics research that Genome Alberta supports, as well as our Researcher Profiles Series
to learn more about some of our funded Alberta Researchers that are advancing innovation in the province.
Genome Alberta is also excited to present an assessment of the economic impact anticipated for Alberta from investments made into our Project Portfolio
, as prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC). The report showcases how investments into our projects are driving economic growth in the province. The total return from the portfolio will continue to grow once impacts from project results can be factored in.
