Ellen Goddard is a social scientist who has been part of a number of research projects funded by Canada's Genomics Enterprise. Her latest involvement is with the Genome Alberta-led project on Chronic Wasting Disease. The role of someone from the social sciences in a genomics project on CWD might seem a bit strange at first, so freelance broadcaster Don Hill went out to learn more.
It turns out her role is to look at the human factors that will ultimately have a key role in managing the disease, including surveillance, monitoring, and controlling the spread of CWD.
