Documents of Interest to Teachers

The following documents are available for download:

***Inquiry into the Mountain Pine Beetle Epidemic***

You can download the presentation given at the 2007 ATA Science Council Conference and at 2008 Teachers' Conventions throughout the province of Alberta. The information provided is meant as a starting point for teachers and students into the complex issues associated with the Mountain Pine Beetle Epidemic.

*** TRIA Project Poster  ***

The Tria project is a joint Genome Alberta-Genome B.C. project studying the genomics of the pine tree, the pine beetle, and the blue-stain fungus that is introduced into the tree by the beetle.  This .pdf is a smaller version of the full sized poster developed for the project.

*** Genotyping Profile ***

If your class is studying genetics and you'd like to use an analysis of a real genotype, one of Genome Alberta's staff members has made an analysis of his profile available. The raw data comes from 2 different companies and the analysis was created using the Promethease software and the SNPedia database. You can choose either the 23andME analysis or the deCODE analysis. Mike Spear has also made his simplified deCODE summary available.

*** Powerpoint Presentation ***

If you'd like a Powerpoint introduction to Genomics you'll find this file useful. You are free to use it in class and to extract slides you find useful.
