2010 Genome Alberta Digital Art Contest

Genome Alberta Art Contest Rules
Guidelines for Entrants

Genome Alberta is looking forward to marking National Biotechnology Week in Canada this coming September and we're starting now with a digital art contest. We have posted a blog entry to help give you some ideas about where biotech and art come together.

We are looking for original digital works of art that look at what biotechnology has done and can do for society. For the purposes of this contest, digital art is defined as art that is created in a digital form. It can be drawn using a computer, created from a source such as a digital photograph, or be entirely computer generated. We will not accept digitized images of oil, acrylic or mixed media paintings.

There are no fees or any charges to enter the contest and we will award a 1st prize of $300.00 (Cdn.), 2nd prize of $200.00 (Cdn.) and 3rd prize of $100.00 (Cdn.) All prizes must be accepted as awarded.

Submissions will be initially judged online by the general public. The final winners will be chosen from the top 10 in the voting.  A judging committee will consider the merit of the art and thematic considerations from those 10 entries.

The deadline for submissions is September 16th. Voting closes September 24th, 2010
