Communication
Communications assists in meeting corporate objectives through communications and outreach, special events and relationship building. By engaging in communications and public outreach initiatives locally, regionally and nationally, we emphasize awareness of the science, socio-economic benefits and educating the public on the risks and the rewards of research programs. Our focus is on building communities of researchers and an informed public through visibility, and credibility. The fundamental principle of transparency will always be at the forefront of our work.
If you would like our latest Annual Report we have a
.pdf copy available for you.
One of our most recent Communications projects is an initiative aimed at the new wave of Web 2.0 users who seek out information in new or different places. We have created an application on the popular social media platform
Facebook. With our
Genomics application Facebook users can exchange virtual genes ranging from the gene that influences blue eye colour, to the genes at work lighting up the Firefly. The same information (but not the ability to give a virtual gene) is available
here on our web site for non-Facebook users.
Genome Alberta also maintains a
blog section that we hope offers some insight into genomics and the issues around genomics as well as offering the opportunity for readers to ask questions and make comments.
We will also do our best to make speakers available for classrooms, public forums, or any group looking for some insight into the new science of genomics. Contact
Mike Spear with your request.
