Canada Kicks Off BIO

The Canadian Embassy on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC is an unassuming building that even the cab driver missed as I went to join a few hundred other Canadians ready to kick off the annual Biotechnology Industry Organization's annual convention and exhibition. As understated as the Embassy appears from the outside, Canada's biotech presence at BIO is anything but.
The Canadian delegation is generally the largest international delegation at BIO every year, and this year is no different with 700 Canadians descending on BIO.
Alberta is being represented in 2011 by a variety of companies and organizations including us here at Genome Alberta, BioAlberta, Alberta Advanced Education and Technology, Sinoveda, KMT Hepatech, Paladin Biosciences, UTI and TEC Edmonton.
BIOTECanada has compiled a complete list of all the Canadian companies who will be at BIO this year on their website. Worth a look to get a snapshot of Canada biotech sector.
In the meantime here are a few pictures from tonight's kickoff:\
