Science Advisory Committee
This Committee provides strategic, operational and scientific advice and direction critical to the success of Genome Alberta's research activities. Committee members will be persons of high national or international standing in genome research and related fields, including genome-related ethical, environmental, legal and societal issues. All external scientific advisory committee members reside outside Alberta, to minimize conflict-of-interest situations with respect to Genome Alberta projects or platforms. The Committee reports to the CEO and Board of Directors.
Responsibilities of the Committee include:
- Participation in project selection and refinement to ensure that only the best proposals are submitted for Genome Canada's international peer review process; for seed projects funded independently of Genome Canada, to provide the necessary peer review and recommendations for funding to the Board of Genome Alberta.
- Upon request, providing assistance in the monitoring and evaluation of the scientific, ethical, environmental, legal and societal programs and projects of Genome Alberta.
- Providing advice on long-range strategic opportunities for Genome Alberta projects and platforms.
